Oakland Trip

A few weeks ago we drove to Oakland to attend the Annual Piano Teachers State Convention. In March Lindsey participated in the Certificate of Merit where music students get evaluated on their skills. She did very well and was selected to play at this convention. It was her first time and although she was nervous she played very well and was relieved when it was all over. Here is a video of Lindsey playing "Dream Catcher" followed by other pictures we took during our 3-day stay.  Enjoy!!!

I love flowers of all colors but I think pink and purple flowers are absolutely heavenly.

We stopped by this little market on the way home from Oakland. Casa De Frutas (house of fruits). They had the freshest fruits and displayed them in the most creative way. I love this old red truck.

Now I like spicy sauce but you have go to be kidding me...

Need to get one of these for when the kids misbehave...

One blog is better than two...

...at least for me anyway. I had one blog for updating family on events and stuff and the other for sharing my handmade cards. I figured it'd just be easier to keep one so I can blab about everything at once. Anyway hope you don't find it too boring. I'll be posting some new stuff in the next few days.

Just Saying Hello

Here is another card I made using that pretty lavendar ribbon I found.

Also hope you like another simple card I made "Just a note...". I realize a lot the cards I make are more on the feminine side so I'm trying to come up with some more masculine designs. After all, men love getting cards too, right? I'm not sure if this second card is masculine enough. You be the judge.

Yard Sale

What a busy day we had today. We had our first yard sale since moving to this house 12 years ago. Its amazing how much junk you can accumulate over the years. I used to hold onto  junk but then the voice of reason kicked in and said "use it or lose it".  I don't like clutter and our garage was getting packed full of stuff that we weren't using. Boxes and boxes of old clothes in fairly good condition didn't go as quick as I had hoped. My mom brought a couple bags of sweaters she bought from Banana Republic and wore maybe only a few times. Not one of them sold. Seems the folks who stopped by were more into the housewares stuff I had laid out. Items like an old karaoke machine and a painting I bought from Rosarito Beach years ago sold quick. I almost sold my treadmill for $150. A lady was ready to load it into her vehicle when we decided to plug it in first to show her how it worked. I was so confident it was in good working order but then the darn thing wouldn't turn on! It had been sitting in the garage for a long time and I guess dust and dirt made it's way to the motor or some other electronic component that prevented it from turning on. The lady was polite and said "no thanks". Can't say that I blamed her. Later Ernie removed the cover to the motor and after cleaning some of the dust off, noticed sparks were flying every time he turned it on. Thank God it didn't end up in someone's home because it would have posed a fire hazard.

Thinking of you

The color green has always been my favorite color but recently I've warmed up to purple and lavender. Recently we cleaned out a storage space at work and I came across a 100 yard roll of lavender satin ribbon that nobody wanted and was about to be thrown out. Yep, you guessed it, I snatched it up...teehee..
Anywho, here is a card I just made using that ribbon. Also I've included a list of other supplies I used:

Ivory cardstock - Recollections
Butterfly punch - Martha Stewart
Patterned paper used for butterflies - Designer paper / Berry Sweet by K&C Company
Rhinestones - Recollections
Plaid green / pink paper - scrap paper from my stash (sorry had it so long I can't remember where I got it)
Mauve cardstock - also from my scrap stash. I just ran this paper thru my Big Shot using the Sizzix dots embossing folder.
Ink - Rubber Stampede
Stamp - Hero Arts *Everyday Messages*

Just found these..

I've been extremely busy with work and recently just got back from a 4 day trip to San Francisco. I've had no time to work on my cards and felt bad that I haven't posted anything new. Then as I was flipping through my phone pics and found these two I made a couple months ago. The picture quality may not be the greatest but it will have to do for now. Hope you all had a fabulouso 4th of July.

Enjoy!
